The recital by Paola Bugiotti is a journey through twentieth-century pianism and its boundaries, between experimentation, evocation and modernity. The journey opens with Liszt and the visionary page of Vallée d’Obermann, an ideal bridge to Schoenberg’s Six Pieces Op.19, rarefied miniatures that herald the avant-garde. Nino Rota follows with his Preludes, in which Italian cantability intertwines with refined and modern writing. With Gershwin, the piano dresses itself in jazz and American rhythms, while Debussy, with the Estampes, leads us into exotic and poetic soundscapes. The closing is entrusted to Sonata No.4 by Scriabin, an ecstatic vision suspended between mysticism and transcendental virtuosity.
Born in Viterbo, Paola Bugiotti graduated brilliantly in piano from the “S. Cecilia” Conservatory in Rome, refining her skills with masters such as Sergio Cafaro, Michele Marvulli, Massimiliano Damerini and Sergio Perticaroli. She obtained with honors two Second Level Academic Diplomas in Solo Piano and in Music Education.
Award winner in national competitions and winner of the Stresa International Competition, she has pursued an intense concert activity in Italy as a soloist, in duo and in chamber ensembles.
Alongside her artistic activity, she has for years combined educational commitment and musical outreach, convinced of music’s value as an instrument of cultural and human growth.
