From September 11 to 13, 2026, Bolsena will host a new edition of the Festival of Permaculture, three days dedicated to ecological regeneration, participatory design and the construction of resilient communities. Over the years, the event has become one of the leading Italian gatherings focused on environmental sustainability, the culture of permaculture, and participatory processes involving citizens, artists and local territories.
Luca Puri, creator of the Festival of Permacultura in Bolsena
The creator and curator of the festival is Luca Puri, an architect from Bolsena who has long been involved in landscape enhancement, sustainable design and the development of cultural initiatives connected to the Lake Bolsena area.
His work stands out for an approach that combines architecture, art, local identity and sustainability, promoting design models attentive to the relationship between the natural environment, public spaces and communities.
Luca Gnizio, protagonist of the 2026 edition
Alongside the organizational and cultural direction of Luca Puri, one of the leading figures of the 2026 edition will be Luca Gnizio, an EcoSocial Artist known for projects that combine art, ecology and social inclusion through the creative reuse of waste materials.
Over the years, Gnizio has developed an original artistic language, transforming recycling into a tool for collective participation. The core of his work lies in creating connections among companies, schools, associations and local communities, giving new life to discarded materials and turning them into shared artworks and opportunities for social interaction.
Luca Gnizio’s artistic collaborations
During his career Luca Gnizio has collaborated with important national and international organizations, including Levi’s, BMW, and the marble consortium of the Apuan-Versilia district.
Among his most significant projects is the artistic recovery of marble dust created in Pietrasanta, later exhibited at the MuSA – Virtual Museum of Sculpture and Architecture .
The participatory projects Forunion and Forelements
During the Festival of Permaculture 2026, Luca Gnizio will present two participatory projects: Forunion and Forelements.
Forunion: the creative reuse of used T-shirts
Forunion was born from the recovery of over one thousand used T-shirts collected by the Coretex consortium in Prato. The regenerated T-shirts will become the creative medium through which associations, schools and citizens will create artistic reinterpretations of the festival’s logo.
The project will also take shape during the free workshop “The Festival Is Us!”, scheduled for May 16 and 17, 2026, between Piazza Matteotti and Piazza Dante Alighieri.

Forelements: an installation dedicated to the four elements
Forelements will be a collective installation dedicated to the four elements – water, air, earth and fire – through sixteen artistic flags created using recycled fabrics.
Children, elderly people, people with disabilities, schools and local embroiderers will contribute to the creation of the artwork, culminating on September 13, 2026, in a public performance with flag throwers.
Permaculture, art and community: the vision of the Bolsena Festival
For Luca Gnizio, permaculture represents a natural synthesis of his artistic and human journey: observing nature, understanding its mechanisms and transforming them into collaborative practices capable of rebuilding a sense of community.
A vision that Luca Puri, permaculture teacher and designer, has carried forward for more than ten years through the Festival of Permaculture in Bolsena, with the goal of transforming the town into an open space for dialogue, creativity and collective regeneration.
A concrete yet visionary approach where the care of the earth, the care of people and the sharing of resources become the fundamental elements for building new forms of social and environmental sustainability.
