San Francesco Municipal Theater
In the beating heart of Bolsena, the "San Francesco" Municipal Theater represents a perfect blend of medieval charm and the functionality of a contemporary event venue.

The San Francesco Theater hosts theater companies engaged in various festivals and performances, concerts featuring choirs, musicians, and internationally renowned singers, as well as dance companies, conferences, and conventions.
The construction of the Church, commissioned by the Monaldeschi della Cervara and dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin, dates back to the early 13th century, when it was entrusted to the Order of Friars Minor Conventual of Saint Francis.
The building has a single nave and, on the north side, a raised apse. The ceiling, made with the exposed truss technique, still preserves a sober and harmonious charm today. Over the centuries the church has undergone several interventions and transformations, the most significant of which date back to the 18th century, when the original Gothic structure was enriched with Baroque elements.
Among the works of greatest interest are the frescoes in the nave, attributed to Romanelli, and those in the apse, traceable to Davanzarano. Also noteworthy are a 16th-century crucifixion with two saints, located near the exit, and a fresco on the right wall depicting Saint Anthony with episodes of his miracles. Finally, on the opposite wall stands the tomb of the Monaldeschi della Cervara.
Today, the Theatre is the ideal venue for conventions, congresses, corporate meetings, and cultural events, thanks to its modern technological equipment and versatile spaces.
