Historical Path of the Piagge
An iconic alleyway that winds like a stone ribbon through the village walls, connecting Piazza di San Rocco to the Monaldeschi Fortress, where history and landscape meet in a timeless journey.
Stepping into it means immersing yourself in a living postcard. The alley is characterized by its cobblestones and large paving stones—typical of ancient medieval streets—designed to withstand both time and the elements.
It is a steep road that winds along, offering a panoramic view of Lake Bolsena and, looking upward, an exceptional vantage point to contemplate the magnificence of the main Keep of our Castle.
This route played a crucial role in the connections between the different areas of the village; its conformation and cobblestone paving recall the ancient communication routes, which is why it proves to be a fascinating path and an unmissable stop for those visiting Bolsena.
This path is one of the most photographed spots in Bolsena, perfectly capturing the essence of Lazio’s medieval aesthetic: soaring verticality, warm natural materials, and constant, breathtaking glimpses of the lake.
